Ancient History: A-I
AH: Historia
simosaurus_rex

Last time, Historia moved into her Legacy 'house' with her pet cat, Sphinx and, after a lot of searching, finally met and married her wife, Lauren. The prologue ended on the amazing cliffhanger of Lauren being about to give birth.

The first baby of the legacy is born, only to find herself shoved halfway through a wall moments later. Glitch or Lauren's protest about her alien offspring not being eligible as heir? Only you can tell.

Her name is Andromache, and she has her mother's hair and eye colour, with a little green skin thrown in.

As always happens in the sims, when you desperately want a multiple birth, it doesn't happen and, when you desperately don't want a second baby ineligible for heirdom, it's guaranteed to occur.

In other words, meet Aeneas. He'd probably have been auto-heir if he had any of Historia's genetic input, because he has alien skin and eyes and red hair. As it is, he's one more alien baby than I was hoping for... but I forgive him because he's cute.

When in doubt, give the baby to the cat. As you can see, Sphinx is super impressed.

Not long afterwards, Historia frightens the heck out of the paper boy by going into labour in the front yard.

If it's twins, you are so fired as founder.

Luckily, it's a single birth. Her name is Agrippina, and she has Historia's brown hair and eyes, as well as her s4 skin. So much for genetic variety!

With three babies in the house, the obvious thing to do is ignore them in favour of the cat.

It's at this point that I should apologise for the fact that there are occasional leaps in the documentation of this generation, simply because it is hard to keep everyone alive when you essentially have triplets to look after as the first offspring of a Legacy! I'm so used to the vast wealth and always-present grandparents of the Lawson Legacy that I'd forgotten that it really is a struggle in the first generation.

So, without further ado, let's skip to the first set of birthdays. Andromache is up first.

Nice outfit, Andy.

(I missed out on getting a better picture of her right away, which I lived to regret, as she glitched out on smart milk and glowed green for the rest of her toddlerdom. You'll just have to trust that she's cute.)

Aeneas is next to be tossed into the ceiling.

And he's super cute! Whyyyyyyy is he ineligible? Whyyyyyy?

And finally it's Agrippina's turn... and I brace myself for coping with three toddlers at once.

Agrippina looks just like I would expect Historia to have looked like as a toddler.

You can't tell, due to the lack of a pregnancy morph for the outfit she's wearing, but Lauren is pregnant again – and this time Historia's genes are involved!

Remember what I said about the glow!glitch? Yeah. At least she looks cute, rocking out to Lauren's beginning attempts at guitar.

With so many toddlers in the house, and another baby on the way, the Caesars finally get a proper home. It should last them until the second generation... I hope.

It's not remotely glamorous or attractive. Just the basics, and a roof over their heads. The empty rooms will be filled with beds once the toddlers age up. Eventually, they'll move into the house I've been building for them on another lot, but that's a lot of simoleons away right now ;)

Agrippina is a whiny little brat, but at least she whines while wearing a cute onesie.

Sphinx has a luxury scratching post and is trained not to do this... but she does so anyway. At least it's just a bin?

Uh, Aeneas... I'm not so sure that bottle's fresh...

Surprise factor: zero.

Andromache envelops her twin brother in her green glow of doom.

This happens a lot with three toddlers in the house. It's a bit like Night of the Living Dead sometimes.

Occasionally, if Historia and Lauren are lucky, a friend will drop by and attend to the toddlers' needs. Either that or his green sparkles are drawn to Andy's green glow.

Sims autonomously choosing to play with their children always makes me aw, especially as it happens so rarely with my lot.

From that expression, you'd never believe Historia's complete lack of nice points.

The mechanical skill points were a helpful boost towards the next promotion, but the §20,000 was the real positive for this first gen family. Hooray! Beds for everyone!

Even Sphinx is helpless to resist the green glow of doom.

Pop number two...

...and straight into labour. Toddlers are hard, okay? ;)

It's another girl with Historia's colouring. Her name is Aphrodite and she's not a clone of Agrippina... but she sure looks like it a lot of the time.

Luckily, soon after Aphrodite is born, the Trial of Three Toddlers comes to an end.

Andromache wishes to keep her glowing complexion... and I hope like hell that the glitch doesn't stick into childhood.

Phew! With the green glow dissipated, you can now see Andy's pointed ears. Totally cute :)

Speaking of cute, next to grow up is Aeneas.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is this kid not eligible? :(

Finally, it's Agrippina's turn.

So pretty... so like Historia.

Because the very best time to make sandcastles is in the dark, while it's raining.

Agrippina is more of a traditionalist.

You know what this means. (It means I wanted a little more variety in genetics when it came time to choose the Generation A heir ;) )

The weather warms up a little and suddenly everyone in the house decides that they have a desperate need to try fishing.

The picture is a little deceptive. Andromache turns out to be the best angler, bagging three fish in quick succession after this boot.

Pop number one!

Aphrodite is kind enough to make it to her first birthday before the next baby arrives.

This really does seem awfully dangerous.

Annnnd she looks just like Agrippina and Historia! Her personality is different, though:

Autonomous belly rubbing is love :)

Lauren finally gets a few moments to herself and is able to paint the Ancient History founder portrait.

Historia in all her gorgeous glory.

Aeneas starts to teach Sphinx how to use the toilet. Eventually, we may actually be able to dispense with the litter tray.

Bees! This kid would've been a dead cert for heir if he were eligible.

Who is Historia playing ball so violently with?

Her daughter, of course! You don't actually think a mother with no nice points would go easily on a child, do you?

Two children and a decidedly constipated looking cat o.O

Pop number two!

Andy enjoys showing off. Unfortunately, everyone else in the house is too busy trying desperately to stay on the right side of aspiration failure to care very much.

That'll come in nicely with a fifth child on the way.

Ostracised by the nature community?! Gasp! The horror!

It seems like everyone is losing nature enthusiasm. Not exactly the biggest blow to the Legacy ;)

Also, why do the chance cards always come in chunks, rather than being evenly spread out?

What's that, Historia? Waving to the kids as they come home from school?

Ohhh. Gotcha.

The kids really are arriving home from school, though, just in time to witness their mother giving birth. First, however, they have to bemoan the fact that they haven't received A+ marks on their first day.

Well, except for Agrippina, that is. She's perfectly happy to be academically ordinary.

Hmm, Historia is looking a little stunned...

And, with that, so am I. Every time you say 'one more kid'. Every time.

Oh well, meet Athena. She's not a clone of Historia... but she may be a clone of Lauren. She has Lauren's black hair, green eyes and s3 skin tone.

And, finally, this is Antigone, who is the last member of Generation A – provided that risky woohoo doesn't give me any surprises. She's the only one of the children with a mix of genetics: Historia's brown hair, and Lauren's green eyes and skin tone.

Next Time: More toddlers, more children and perhaps even some teens!

Ancient History is an alphabetacy with an ancient history naming theme. If you're a first time reader, you can find an archive of all past updates here.

I only have sporadic internet access, so I always play ahead and thus can't do heir polls. For the same reason, I can be slow to respond to comments and friend-adds, but they are always appreciated and I do respond when I get the chance!

I love this family as much as I do the Lawsons and I love the Lawsons. :) Historia and Lauren's kids are cute! :D

Aw, I'm glad :) I'm definitely getting attached myself, which is just what I was hoping for!
